As part of its sustainable development advocacy, ADFIAP joins a 7-organization international consortium to implement a grant project under the European Union’s (EU) SWITCH Programme on sustainable consumption and production (SCP). The project aims to “green” the operations and practices of three exporting SME sectors in Cebu, Philippines, namely, furniture, fashion accessories and gifts, toys and house wares.
The consortium partners include SEQUA of Germany (lead partner), ADFIAP, Cebu Fashion Accessories Manufacturers and Exporters (Cebu FAME), Cebu Furniture Industry Foundation (CFIF), Cebu Gifts, Toys and House Wares (Cebu GTH), the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and the EFA Energy Efficiency Agency NRW (Germany).
Acronymed “SMART Cebu” for SMEs for Environmental Accountability, Responsibility and Transparency, the 3-year Euro 1,223,482 project, which will undertake training and capacity-building initiatives for the target SMEs, was launched on February 24-25, 2010 in Cebu City and will be implemented by the lead partner SEQUA.
