At the recently ended first Peer Review exercise of member-institutions using the AADFI Prudential Standards, Guidelines and Rating System (PSGRS), held at the Association’s CEOs Forum on 17-19 November 2009, in Ezulwini, Kingdom of Swaziland, five (5) DFIs were declared as best performing out of 34 member-institutions that submitted to the Peer Review exercise. The result of the exercise showed that the 5 DFIs scored above the benchmark of 80% considered as good performance. Moreover, the overall result of the review indicated that 10 DFIs scored marks below 65%, which was far below the benchmark of 80%.
It should be recalled that the importance of the assessment which will now be undertaken every two years, is to identify areas of weaknesses in individual member-institutions with a view to taking corrective measures to address them. The result will also project the DFIs as performing in compliance with best standards.
